Performing Groups

The dance program is home to Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre (WCDT), the resident touring dance company, and Alithea Mime Theatre, a professional mime company in residence at Wichita State University. Both companies have been accepted on the Kansas Arts Commission touring roster. WCDT and Alithea have toured regionally, nationally, and abroad.

Dance majors at Wichita State University work with Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre on a regular basis. The strong performers that are developed through the training at WSU have the opportunity to perform and tour with the company. Some WSU performers have been asked to join Alithea Mime Theatre, and have toured around the world with the company. WCDT and MADT (Mid-America Dance Theatre) are very active in the community, and perform in many venues around Wichita. Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre has recently toured through Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and several locations within Kansas.
