31st Annual National Playwriting Contest

AWARDS

A production of the winning play by the WSU School of Performing Arts (may be entered in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Playwriting Awards category).

JUDGING

The adjudication will be by a panel of three or more selected from the faculty of the school.

RULES

1. The contest is open to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at any college or university in the United States. Please indicate school affiliation.

2. Both full-lengths and one-acts may be submitted:

a. Full-length plays in one or more acts should be a minimum of 90 minutes playing time.

b. Two or three short plays on related themes by the same author will be judged as one entry. The total playing time should be a minimum of 90 minutes.

3. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and unproduced.

4. Eligible playwrights may submit more than one entry.

5. One typewritten, bound copy should be submitted. Two title pages must be included: one bound and the other unbound. The unbound title should contain the authors name, address, and telephone number. Include e-mail if available. This information must appear nowhere else on the manuscript.

6. A large, self-addressed stamped envelope must accompany each script if the author wishes it returned. If the contestant desires acknowledgement of our receiving the manuscript, a self-addressed stamped postcard should accompany the entry.

7. Deadline for the submission is (postmarked) February 15, 2005. The winner will be announced after April 15, 2005.

8. No entry may be withdrawn from the contest after February 15, 2005.
