Artist’s Statement
Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow
        - T.S Elliot

To me this shadow is the essence of all things I see. To see something, to really see it, to hear it, to understand it, to internalize it, and to express it, this is my voice as an artist.  This world in which I live is full of wonderful things, things that cry out to me, things that I need to understand. I find myself conscious that I am other than myself, part of something larger, universal.  I begin to paint.  As if my separateness from this universal oneness was lost I watch as color, line and form appear on the canvas. These pulsating rhythms, lyrical movements, and curvilinear designs become my understanding, they become my voice, they become what I see as the shadow falls.

I want my paintings to be felt, to touch the viewer’s primordial senses.  I want their essences to be known, to whisper revelations to the subconscious mind.  Between the idea and the reality, this is where I want them to exist.
